1.1 Context Shapes Language - Explanatory Slides and Videos for Students
This resource takes students through the 1.1 Language Shapes Contexts with explanatory slides with very short videos that go with each (average about one minute long). Wee activity slides are included.
We have broken this resource into 5 carefully scaffolded lessons (although the final two lessons might take two class periods to get through). These are:
🍎 Lesson 1: The standard - what's involved.
🍎 Lesson 2: Typical language features of contexts.
🍎 Lesson 3: Annotating
🍎 Lesson 4: Describing the context (in DETAIL).
🍎 Lesson 5: Talking about your language features (including how to get to Merit and Excellence).
Students then move into presenting their work in whatever way you like.
If you wish to combine this with our Context Affects Language resource we've noted on the front slide of lessons 2-5 which step from the table template and example (from that resource) that lesson would go with.
This resource includes:
⭐ 5 lessons, each presented on one PowerPoint slide.
⭐ Slides that include notes plus links to explanatory videos ('stored' on YouTube).
⭐ Slides that include short activities to help students understand key points.
You and your students will enjoy:
❤️ Carefully scaffolded and simple instructions.
❤️ Being able to view the slide and the video at the same time by splitting the screen.
❤️ Ummmm...a break from each other?!

Feel free to purchase just one for your department - no need for a copy for each teacher. However:
- Please do NOT share with the school down the road.
- Please do NOT take it with you to a new school.
- Feel free to suggest the website to others - that'd be great!
That's pretty fair I think! Let's help each other out. :)
